Wherein we display our enviable dramatic skills

I baked oatmeal chocolate-chip cookies the other day. Because I wanted to give my son a treat. Because sometimes I can be a kind and loving Mother. It’s not like Henry never gets treats, kids; he gets them pretty much every day, but for whatever reason, these cookies made him suspicious. What is she planning? What is she trying to accomplish, with this whole homemade cookie junk?

At least I think that’s what was going on. All I can say is, he ate a single cookie in the oddest, most irritating way possible. As if there might be sprouts or poison lurking somewhere within the cookie. I was going to write about it, but I couldn’t possibly describe his insane cookie-eating method in a way that would do it justice.

So instead, Scott and I reenacted it for you. Here you are.

Has Henry seen this? Way way way too good. Love the chocolate all over the face.

Hilarious! Did he suspect you were hiding some spinach or cauliflower puree in them?

Oh, that was such a good way to begin the day. More dramatic reenactments, please!

Also, will you guys be my friends?

I love how in every cut there was a new blob of chocolate on Alice's face. God is in the details!

This is quite possibly the most hilarious thing I have seen in a long time, and totally something I would do (the reenactment, not the odd cookie eating). I wish you were my neighbor. Heh.

That was brilliant, thank you! My husband often uses the phrase "you'd think we were feeding you poison" when we sit for dinner. And homemade cookies are not on his list of palatable items. Go figure.

Curse you iPhone and your lack of flash support! Now I will have to wait until I am home to see what is so funny.

Oh god. So deeply true and funny, Dying over here.

ps - I don't like this part. EAT IT!

In Henry's defense I think he was eating around the oatmealy bits while trying to liberate the chocolaty goodness. And, if he does not like raisins (and I speak from a life where I am raising three Henry-ish children) anything that has at one time or another been associated with a raisin...like oatmeal perhaps?...is off the table.

Plus, I am going to start using the phrase "YOU eat it!" ALL the time. It applies to SO many life scenarios.

So great.. thanks for doing it! I sense we have these moments to look foward to with my 2.5 year old.

OMG, that was hilarious! Kids can be so weird sometimes, can't they? :)

Oh! Crying with laughter. That was hilarious! Also, I love Henry.

I wanted to take the cookie away from you and tell you to suck it.

See my ass over there? I just laughed it right the heck off.

Oh, the awesomeness of children. And evil cookies. Nice try, Mom.

Never in my life have I turned down an oatmeal cookie. You can mail them to me if Henry won't eat them.

More, more, more dramatic re-enactments please! That was fantastically entertaining! :D

I didn't think anything could be as funny as your writing. Happily, I was wrong. As always, Alice, thanks for sharing your brilliance.
