Ten years!

Here I am, hello! Where have I been? Well, writing, obviously:

Also, being a poor influence on my child:

And appearing on podcasts! Well, a podcast.

The last couple of months have been crammed with Work and Life, but I promise, promise, promise to write more soon. I have also been reorganizing my work schedule and cleaning up my habits, such as they are, and I think I’m on a smarter track. I’ll tell you all about it in my next post.  (Uh, maybe after we take a look at some of the above Salads. Alluring and new? Sign me up!)

The ten-year anniversary of my blog came and went, and I sort of can’t believe it’s been so long. So many great things have happened in my life as a result of this blog. This is a very important place for me. I don’t want to neglect it, and you, any more.

Hey, so: who’s still reading? Please comment, and say hello. Tell me about you. What brought you here? What do you want to see more of? Less of? The same amount of? Do you have a blog? Why not tell us about it?

I check your blog almost every day! Can't wait to read what you have to write! :)

Ooooh... passive aggressive teacher commentary, my favorite. Wonder what they would think of my children singing along to Coldplay and eminem (the radio-friendly songs, of course). :) I started reading here after clicking through from another blog that linked to you because I liked their writing and then I found that I liked yours, too. I love how you tell a story, any story and that's what I like to read! Keep it coming!

Hi there. I found you by way of Eden's fantastic Fussy about a year ago just as I was about to give up reading blogs... and of course I immediately found you both to be so real, lovely & unpretentious, so I check in from time to time. Don't mind so much if you don't post every dang second- I just like reading when you do because it's always something honest and unique and straight up. Glad to see you're back and I have to say, I really, really love homemade shitty haircuts on a kid :)

Yes indeedy, I am still reading! You have always been an inspiration! Happy Blogaversary!

I started reading your blog about 2005. I love the way you write about everyday life and I like your sense of humor. You help me see my own life differently/better. I too suffer from depression at times -- it is nice to know there are other moms/wives like me. I hope you start writing here again. I have tried blogging a couple of times but gave up because of lack of readers.

reading since 2006 or 7. my friend sent me henry's birth story and i was hooked. happy anniversary! why do i read you? cos you're a great writer and tell funny stories.

You were one of the first blogs I started reading regularly, but I don't remember how I found you. I started reading blogs before I started writing one, so this must have been early 06. I love your sense of humour. So I love it when you write funny stuff, but I don't mind the serious either. I just like your writing. Do more! Please?
I have a blog. I never wrote every day and now it's more like every other week. We took a trip to Mauritania and Morocco in the fall (we used to live in both countries) and I'm still blogging it, all these many months later. It's a little ridiculous.

Aw, Henry's teacher isn't passive aggressive, I promise! She's the best. We love her. I think that's her way of relating to perfectionist kids who might otherwise freak out that they're doing something wrong. Smiley faces are her inoculation against anxiety.

I'm still reading. I am easy. I approve of virtually everything you do. Or else I have no standards. Or maybe both. Write early. Write often. Write copiously. Or don't write! (On the blog.) Tell us funny stories from your childhood maybe? Your teen years? Or whatever!

Found you through Mighty Girl. I keep returning bc you share about your life, are a terrific writer, and are naturally witty. Many blogs 10+ yrs have lost their way by now. (Sponsored posts have an almost zen vibe here) Keep it going, no matter the pace. I'm a multi-faceted mom, wife, traveler and enjoy writing that doesn't pander to one aspect only.
Thanks Alice-

Your writing makes me feel like I could sit next to you on a park bench and make sassy comments about people who pass by and you wouldn't judge me for it. Although I have anxiety about talking to strangers on park benches so I wouldn't actually acknowledge you because I would die. But I'm happy you're back(ish).

Yay - congrats on the 10-year-anniversary! Plus yay to see more updates from you. I enjoy just reading about your life - love your writing voice. I do have a blog but sadly do not update it as much as I should. I get caught up in that loop of waiting too long and then having too much/no idea what to put on it. But please do keep writing for your adoring public!

Almost unable to come up with a sentence for "guarantee" that does not involve an advertisement. Probably all that media influence.

Hi Alice,
Meant to comment the other day, but got temporarily swallowed by life. I'm back now and here to tell you I've been reading you for several years. I read because I love your honesty and your voice, which inspires me to find my own.

Also, I emailed you for advice once about my blog (minorcatastrophes.com) some years ago, and was so impressed. You replied! Thank you again for that.

My in-box is more crowded with junk than ever these days and I often find myself doing damage control by unsubscribing to lists I'm on. Despite that, I always perk up when I see a new post by you waiting...It's a little brain break I look forward to in a busy day. I think that meets the definition of making the world a better place, Ms. Bradley. Thanks for keeping at it.

Oh gosh, I've been reading your blog for ages. And it's delightful.

I'm here, I've been reading you since close to the beginning and now I have you on feedly so I never miss a post. I'm here because I like you, your humor, your honesty, and your personality in general. I don't have any specific thing I want more of--just you. I hope you keep posting forever.

I've been reading for a couple of years now. I can't remember how I first found you--a link from somewhere on the internets, obviously--but then I recognized your name because of an essay you wrote in The Sun magazine.

I love your blog because I feel like I'm listening to your thoughts! (But in an awesome, non-creepy way).

Long time reader, though not so long as ten years! I cant remember how I first got here (forgive typos, I am holding a sweet sweet newborn in one arm). I enjoy your perky cynicism and self deprecation (is that a thing?) You is funny.

Hi! I'm still reading. I think I was brought here by someone else's blog, but it's been years so I can't remember. Maybe Maggie's or Dooce's. I'd love to see more posting from you, but don't have suggestions on what you should write about.

I have a blog that I've restarted 1000 times. No point in posting it here.

March 13, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterfamousamy

I am still here! And I still lurve you.

Oh, man, you guys! I'm reading all these comments and dying. In a good way. Thank you so much, truly.

I can't remember what brought me to Finslippy, but I remember what got me hooked: your post on "How to Cook a Pot Roast", which is one of the funniest things I have ever read. I sent it to all my friends and kept a copy so I can read it again....and again, when I need to be cheered up. I love you!

Hi! I've been reading y'all heres blog for close to the ten years I guess? Maybe only 9. Psh, clearly jumped on some sort of long forgotten bandwagon. I like your life stories. I like the funny shit. I like the exclamation marks.

You make me want to write more, I mean, I don't (winner of lazy olympics) but I sure do think about it. Sometimes I also nod when I think about it. Anyway, that's pretty great of you, so thanks! I look forward to the next 10.

Hello! I'm a little late to the party but wanted to say that a. I think that teacher needs to mind her own damn business, and b. I'm glad you're back! I'll leave it to you to decide on your content, as you have done beautifully lo these many years.
