Ten years!

Here I am, hello! Where have I been? Well, writing, obviously:

Also, being a poor influence on my child:

And appearing on podcasts! Well, a podcast.

The last couple of months have been crammed with Work and Life, but I promise, promise, promise to write more soon. I have also been reorganizing my work schedule and cleaning up my habits, such as they are, and I think I’m on a smarter track. I’ll tell you all about it in my next post.  (Uh, maybe after we take a look at some of the above Salads. Alluring and new? Sign me up!)

The ten-year anniversary of my blog came and went, and I sort of can’t believe it’s been so long. So many great things have happened in my life as a result of this blog. This is a very important place for me. I don’t want to neglect it, and you, any more.

Hey, so: who’s still reading? Please comment, and say hello. Tell me about you. What brought you here? What do you want to see more of? Less of? The same amount of? Do you have a blog? Why not tell us about it?

I've been reading for five-ish years? I think? I followed a link on some other long forgotten blog and here I still am.
I do have a blog of my own. It's currently rather sad and neglected. I hope to get back to it some day.

I've had the pleasure of reading you since the twelfth of never (and that's a long, long time).

Hello. Nice to see you. You look wonderful!

I've been here so long I'm not sure how I got here but I'm glad I did. What would I like? Moar!!! But I'm so appreciative of what I've gotten over the years and would never presume to think of it as anything other than a gift.

Salads?! If you insist...

Hi! I'm still here with you! And I just started a blog a few months ago called A Long Run ( http://alongrun.wordpress.com/ ). Thanks for asking! It's real emo right now, but I assure you I'm a 45 year old woman, not a whiny 16 year old like it reads.

I'm still here!!
HI!!!!
I haven't been reading since the beginning, but it has been years...can't remember how long...and I maybe found you via an article in a woman's magazine?? Redbook?? Did you used to write a column for them?? Why can't I remember?

Anyway...the important thing is that I'm still here and you're still here and all is well.

I enjoy all of your posts...and appreciate you sharing your life, fears, worries, fun times, etc with all of us.

Happy Anniversary!!!

I don't remember how long I have been reading, def. from before your temporary NJ move, but my, and my DH's favorite post has always been the one with the re-creation of your son eating a cookie he didn't like

Long time reader, friend and fan. Happy anniversary! I just realized my 9th is coming up. What the? And I changed my name but the new site is not up yet. Hope to see you in 2014! xo

Hi! Hello! I'd love to tell you what brought me here and all that, but I ... I can't remember the Before Winter Times. As far as I know, I've ALWAYS been here.

March 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKathy S.

I've also been reading since the early days, and got here through one infertility blog or another.

Also, the other night, my son announced, "Guess who I love more--you or Daddy?" I said, "wha?" and he responded, "I'll tell you right after this commercial break! Blah blah blah Geico, blah blah, save 10% on your auto insurance, blah blah blah." So perhaps he and Henry could commiserate about the effect of too much media on one's creative musings.

Congrats on ten years. It's been a good run so far.

I've been around (blogging) nearly as long as you but can't remember when I started reading your blog. Anyhoo, happy blogiversary and it's good to see you pop up in my reader every now and then. Cheers.

Hello! I think I have been reading since very near the beginning, so I have no idea how I got here. Also maybe Dooce? It was definitely during college when I leaned heavily on blogs for procrastination. Today I'm in a much better place that allows me to enjoy the actual writing regardless of its ability to help me procrastinate. Your sense of humor is the best and I'd like to see more of that, but I'm pretty sure it will creep into most of your posts whether you're trying or not. I'm very glad you're still here!

Ten years! What's a month or two here and there, then? I'd say you earned it. I would like to see more of whatever you damn well please, Alice. Congratulations on the anniversary.

Still reading from......7 years ago? I don't remember when I stumbled across your blog (ha, i first wrote "blug"), but it's hilarious, and I cracked up, and here I am, 10 years later.

Hello!

Another fan of years standing; can't remember how I got here, just loving your writing as soon as I got here. I blogged briefly until my perfectionism made each post take so long it started interfering with my day job. I will go on checking back here no matter how much you don't post, so take your time. Just tell us where to order your book when it's done.

Oh, I'd love to toss your salad! What? No! Gross.

March 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJessica

I'm still reading!

I honestly have no recollection of how I found you in the first place, since you're one of the oldest entries in my RSS feed. I assume that somebody I was reading linked to you, and I clicked over and just sort of stayed.

I have no suggestions for your blog, because I like you just the way you are.

Congrats on the anniversary!

I keep checking in because I have a secret crush on your cat. And now my secret is out. Please don't tell my cats. They are jealous bitches. They will probably cut me in my sleep.

March 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMissusB

Love you, love your writing, love your stories about your family, love your dog, love your cat, love your stories about your neighborhood, love your paintings, love......all of it. You keep blogging, I'll keep reading. Deal?

Hi Alice - I've been reading you from my work desk in Australia for a really long time - from nearish the beginning, I'd say. Imagine how my career might have skyrocketed without the distraction of you! I do miss the Golden Age of the blog (not your blog - you've always been platinum, baby - I mean the blog concept)... there's a lot more out there now, but the best writers rarely write and I can't abide the not-so-good writers (and yet still I'm not CEO, hmmm, maybe it's not your fault after all!) I guess I'm a traditionalist: I like the personal reflections, with a sprinkle of quirky, witty, funny, clever, emotional rawness, what-a-great sentence! love-that-structure! (not necessarily all in the one entry). You do that so well, pretty much every time, so my request would be More Alice, More Often please. (Imagine that on a placard, for full effect.) Kylie

I never comment on blogs but I really wish people would blog more so here I am to encourage you. I used to blog but stopped when I got pregnant. I found you via momversation. Is that embarrassing for me to say? Well I don't care because that's also how I found Rebecca at GGC and you are both fantastic. I like any of your writing. You've often brought me to tears with laughter so I guess, keep it up!

March 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

I'm a little bothered by the passive-aggressive smiley face. Move along judgey teacher.

March 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMegan

I am here because I love the way you write. It brightens my day when I check my feed and see a new post.

I would like, nay I *need*, more book recommendations from you. I have a hard time choosing my next book because I want it to be great. When you write about a book you liked I know I am going to like it.

March 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

Happy 10, Alice!! You don't look a day over nine!

March 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterTammy

I found your blog through a link from someone else's blog - maybe Julia. It was back when you lived in NJ, so how long ago was that? I'm pretty picky about what I read, and I stayed because you write so well. I don't have a blog – I'm a consumer, not a producer – and I'll read whatever you would like to write about. And my secret wish is to bump into you on the street (figuratively, not literally) sometime when I'm visiting my niece in your neighborhood.

March 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMJ

I want to see more of you writing posts about your life. That is all. Your posts are always great and interesting, and usually funny, but they are still great even when they're not funny.
