Finslippy has a new home

Welcome, readers, to my new website. Isn't it fantastic? I can say that because I had absolutely no hand in its design. When I switched to Squarespace, I begged them for design help, and they kindly hooked me up with a designer. She asked me what I wanted, and I said, "I want something that is good, and also, is not bad," but then I got carried away and I believe I burbled something about sparkles and holograms and 3-D but fortunately she had hung up on me by then. Oh, I also wanted Smell-o-vision, but I guess you can't have everything. Whatever, Squarespace.

So! Changes! You might have noticed that there's now a landing page, with links to books, video, Let's Panic About Babies!: The Site, and of course the blog. The other new features include a video link in the top nav bar, which will take you to my Herchannel page. That's another way to say Momversation, although there are related videos in there as well, and eventually when I get my act together I might create some of my own videos, which will also live there. There's also a writing link up there, where I'll put other articles and stories I've written over the years.

I spent the past few days tagging each and every one of my old blog posts, and as this blog is almost seven years old, you can imagine how much work that was. My right hand keeps involuntarily curling up into a painful spasm, but it was worth it. Because look, now I have a tag cloud! Over there on the right. No, there. Below the ads. Yep. Do you see it? There!

Poke around and let me know what you think. I hope you love it as much as I do.

I love the new design! The colors are so soothing and modern. This may just be me, but I'm having a bit of difficulty reading the gray text. I'd love it if were darker, but hey... I'm just a peon among your many thousands of readers =) Just a suggestion. All in all, LOVE!!

Holy shit, love it! Long time reader for whom your writing is a ray of sunshine. Thank you and congrats on the new look!

oh wow, sooooooo pretty!

Thanks, guys! Let me see if we can tinker with the font color. Seems reasonable to me.

This new site rocks! They did a great job with the design. Smell-o-vision! LOL

It's great, except I can't actually read it without squinting. The gray on white in a small font is lovely, but difficult to read. Ouch.

Wow that was fast!! Thanks for changing the font color, MUCH easier to read now that it's darker! Much appreciated =)

WOW! It looks sooo gorgeous! I love the color and the heading is lovely. Way to go!

Really nice site! The tag cloud is great too, so practical for browsing old posts. I like your header (?) picture.

Does anyone else now have the theme to the 80's show, "Square Pegs" going through their head? No? Alrighty then.

Love the new look! :)

I love it too, but I'm finding it a little difficult to read. It's like the little dots in the background are playing tennis with the floaters in my eyes.

So clean and a long-drawn breath of fresh spring air. Love it!

The site looks FANTASTIC! Congrats on the expansion of your global media empire. The world needs more of you!

At first I was thinking "meh, new blog, not a major change", but then I clicked and saw THE SITE. Woah. Awesome.

I am now aspiring to someday have reason for A SITE. Gorgeous.

So, so lovely. I think the micro-fishnet background is my favorite teeny detail.

I love it! My husband has been talking about re-designing my blog for months now. Maybe this will give him the push he needs to to do. 'Cause Lord knows I'm not gonna.

The light turquoise is very hard to read on a white background. There's a lot of turquoise, normally one of my favorite colors, but sometimes a punch of a complimentary color is helpful. Like orange.

Stop screaming.

Oh! The awesomeness!! It's epic! I'm so excited because I love you and you make me laugh and I wish so many good things for you! I have no inside voice!

Looks really spiffy. Congratulations.

I love it! So classy and stylish like the woman who writes it. Hurrah!

Love it! Clean and fresh and fun. Just like I imagine you to be.

I love it! New and shiny! Yay! I also like being an author, but I am secretly thinking (of piffle) in parentheses next to it.

The new layout is beautiful and so clean, too! I love it. :)

You know, the little address bar icon thingy is a black cube. It kind of makes me think of "Hellraiser." That's not necessarily a bad thing.
