We're done. Finally.

Our New Jersey house is officially sold. Hallelujah.

We were supposed to close on the house a few days after our move, but there were problems with the lender. It took a month to get a new closing date, and over the course of that month we were pretty sure that 1) the deal would never go through and 2) we would have to get back on the market, the horrifying market, and 3) we were setting ourselves up for financial ruin and we would die in the gutter.

I was going to detail for you all that went on, but every time I try I become either nauseated, or sleepy, or both. Also I would have to go into specifics so that you could fully understand the horror, and then you'd get bored and impatient and you'd wander off to search for baby-animal videos. I would like to do that now, come to think of it. Let's all check out Cute Things Falling Asleep.

Aaaand we're back. So the important part of the story is that everything worked out in the end. Our buyers have the house and we have our money. It's less money than we would have had at any other time in financial history, but whatever. We've got fistfuls of equity, and we're going to blow it all on hats. And by "hats" I mean "long-term, low-risk investments." (Also: hats.)

Yes! I am sooo happy for you. I'm supposed to be closing too by the end of the month. Flippin' god of real estate please!!! I really hope I don't have to shell out April mortgage. (although I rather do that than have the deal fall through obviously) But I would love that money for outdoor toys, flowers, and yes, some hats would be nice.

Wheeeeee! Congrats. And totally random, but just yesterday someone else pointed me to Cute Things Laughing which appears to be a sister site to the Falling Asleep one. Had never heard of either before.

You no longer have one foot in New Jersey and one foot in Brooklyn and this is good because while you strike me as limber, that's a hard pose to hold. And let us all contemplate the good karma you have in this world which allowed you to actually SELL A HOUSE in 2009.

congratulamationes!! as someone who has also lived through an Escrow of Hell, i know the relief you must feeling now. no more shitty lenders! no more sleepless nights! sadly, this might also mean no more binging on donuts, but maybe i'm speaking for just myself now. in any case, ENJOY!

Just went through that horrible roller-coaster ourselves. All I can say is that Lenders all need to be shot. It's like they've never done this before - isn't it the same thing over and over - check the numbers, and stamp YES or NO. Like the good old days. Seriously, how long does it take? I guess when I found that one of the people working in my Lender's office is on Facebook All day, I guess I can understand why it takes so long.

Nope. You're definitely more fun than the 'cute things falling asleep.' They are great also. But the honesty and humility with which you present your life is soooo refreshing! Glad things worked out for you!

omg, I really needed that cute animal site. Thank you. We've been trying to sell a house (that we've moved out of already AAARRGGHHH) since last July, and have now dropped the price so far that it makes my eyes cross to think about it. So, congrats!

Yay congrats! And curse you for sharing that cute website. Curse you.

Wow that must be a huge relief, a weight off of your shoulders.

I prefer bowler hats. Great for long term as they never go out of style. (right?!)

That's so funny, I get sleepy when I start to think of stressful things like whether or not we will have to move in a month. Yaaaaaaaaaawn....

Love you, love the Hot Shots reference :)

I am on the other side of this fence, trying to buy a house, and I want to pull my hair out. The banks are dumb, the sellers are dumb (not you, the ones here on the left coast). We fell out of escrow on an awesome house because it appraised 30 grand under their listed price and THEY WON'T BUDGE.

Anyway, I get it. Yay that you sold yours.

I just wanted to come in here to say you're an amazing lady for reffing Hot Shots!, but that other dude beat me to it. Still, awesome, and congrats.

Congrats! we're at the beginning of the process. House on market for 5 weeks and only ONE person tromped through so far. this is going to be a looooong saga, I'm sure. :)

I too would like to partake in the buying of hats...

Congratulations! Glad it finally went through, that must have been horrifying for a few weeks as the suspense went on.

Now, if they'd just move in, I'd get to meet them!

Lord, that's a load off Bossy's mind. Because Bossy tends to get overly involved.

Congratulations on the sale! If I were you, I'd be jumping for joy just to be rid of that stress.
